Answer» raingauges are used to OBTAIN a continuous record of DAILY or weekly rainfall. It consists of a funnel-shaped COLLECTOR at the top of the gauge and a FLOAT syphon chamber and recording mechanism just below it. the rain water collected by the collector is led into the float chamber.
