Forest products can be divided into two classes:

1. Main Yields: Wood of different trees are the main yield of Indian forests. The trees from which wood is obtained in India are deodar, pine, maple, fir, spruce, shisham, sanovar, saal, saagwan, sesam, mahua, chandan, semal, haldu, arjun, mango, khair, babool, bamboo, neem. 

2. Less important yields: These are lac, catechu, gum, mahua, tung, cane, rubber, fruit, honey, herbs, medicines, leather, coloring materials, turpentine oil, viroja, natural silk.
