1.

Describe the interior of the earth .Give a brief description of each layer

Answer»

th consists of THREE major concentric layers. These layers are called crust, mantle and the core of the earth. The density temperature and pressure of these layers increase with depth .CRUST:The uppermost layer lithosphere or crust of the Earth which consists of a thin layer with an average thickness of about 60 km forms less than 1% of the radius of the earth .MANTLE :The Mantle or mesosphere of the earth lies below the crust of the earth .The Mantle has an average thickness of about 2840 km. It consists of mixed silicates and metals like magnesium and IRON. Density of mantle varies between 3 g/cm3 and 5.5 g/cm3CORE:The core or barysphere is the innermost layer of the Earth. It consists of alloys of CARBON, iron and Silicon DUE to the high temperature Nickel and lron are found in molten state. The core of the earth has a radius of about 3500 km. It consist mostly of metals
