Answer» The old city of Udaipur is surrounded by a bastioned wall. There are four huge gates with metal spikes – Surajpole, Chandpole, Udaipole and Hathipole. The Western side is bounded by Pichola lake. To the north is the Sajjangarh hill once covered with dense forest, the home of the tigers and the leopards. There is only one main road which leads to the grand palace. There are many havelis made of white marbles and red stones. पुराना उदयपुर नगर एक सुरक्षित दीवार से घिरा हुआ है। इसमें चार बड़े दरवाजे हैं जिनके किवाड़ों पर धातु की नुकीली कीलें लगी हैं-सूरज पोल, चांद पोल, उदय पोल और हाथी पोल। पश्चिमी दिशा पिचोला झील से घिरी हुई है। उत्तर की ओर कभी घने जंगल से ढकी हुई सज्जनगढ़ की पहाड़ी है जो कभी शेर और तेंदुओं का घर थी। वहाँ एक ही मुख्य सड़क है जो सीधी महल को जाती है। वहाँ सफेद संगमरमर तथा लाल पत्थर की बनी हुई बहुते सी हवेलियाँ हैं। |
