Oceans are spread on 3/4th part of the earth’s surface. Mainly there are four Oceans on the earth,

  •  Pacific Ocean 
  •  Atlantic Ocean 
  •  Indian Ocean and 
  •  Arctic Ocean

Their utility is mentioned below : 

  • Oceans have a lot of living organisms, mainly fishes. 
  • Fishes from the ocean are the main source of food. 
  • Oceans are a large deposit of minerals. 
  • The coastal areas of the ocean have a lot of possibility of petroleum reserves. 
  • Oceans are cheapest mode of transportation. Import and export through oceanic routes is the cheapest. 
  • Similar to lithosphere, the oceans also have mountains, plateaus, plains and gorges.
