Direction: Given question consists of 2 statements, I and II respectively. Please read the questions carefully and decide which of the statement (s) is/are sufficient/necessary to answer the question.Find the distance travelled by a man.I: Man covers one-third of the distance at 20 km/h and the remaining distance at 10 km/h.II: Time taken by a man to complete the journey is 10 hours.1. The data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.2. The data in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.3. Either statement I or statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.4. The data in both the statements I and II are not sufficient to answer the questions.5. The data in both the statement I and II together are necessary to answer.

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 5 : The data in both the statement I and II together are necessary to answer.

From statements I and II

Let the total distance be x km

One-third of the distance = x/3 km

Remaining distance = 2x/3 km

Time taken to cover x/3 km = (x/3) ÷ 20 = x/60 hr

Time taken to cover (2x/3) km = (2x/3) ÷ 10 = 2x/30

According to question,

⇒ [(2x/30) + (x/60)] = 10

⇒ (4x + x)/60 = 10

⇒ 5x/60 = 10

⇒ x = 10 × 60/5

⇒ x = 120 km

The data in both the statement I and II together are necessary to answer.
