Directions: Read the condition given below and answer the question based on it.A sphere of diameter 7 cm is placed inside the cube and cube is placed inside the cylinder with height double the edge of cube. What is the ratio of total surface area of cube to surface area of sphere?1. 6 ∶ π2. 2 ∶ π3. π ∶ 124. π ∶ 4

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 1 : 6 ∶ π

Given:

The diameter of sphere is 7 cm and sphere is placed inside cube and cube is placed inside cylinder

Formula Used:

Total surface area of cube = 6 × (side) 2

Surface area of sphere = 4 πr2

Calculation:

The diameter of sphere is 7 cm then radius will be 7/2 cm

∴ Surface area of sphere = 4 π (7/2)2 = 49 π cm square

Now, the diameter of sphere is 7 cm and the diameter of sphere will be the side of cube

∴ Side of cube = 7 cm

And total surface area of cube = 6 × (7) 2 = 49 × 6 cm square

Now, ratio of total surface area of cube to surface area of sphere

∴ Required ratio = 49 × 6 ∶ 49 × π = 6 ∶ π

Hence, option (1) is correct
