Answer» Correct Answer - Option 1 : πd2/2 Given: A sphere of diameter d is given Formula Used: Surface area of sphere = 4 π r2 Where r is the radius of sphere Calculation: Let the radius of sphere be r When a sphere is cut into four parts by horizontal and vertical cuts then one curved and to flat semi circular surfaces is created ∴ We need to calculate surface area of curved surface of part and surface are of two flat semi circle We know that surface area of sphere is 4 π r2 and one forth of it will be π r2 Now, area of two semi circular flat surface ∴ Surface area = π r2/2 + π r2/2 = π r2 Now, total surface area of resulting part = π r2 + π r2 = 2 π r2 Here, the diameter (d) of sphere is given ∴ Surface area = 2 π (d/2)2 = π (d)2/2 Hence, option (1) is correct |
