Answer» Solution :Government response to Civil Disobedience Movement: (i) The Civil Disobedience Movement spread like a forest fire that led the Government to resort to brutal measures to supress the movement. (ii) Lathi charges and the indiscriminate firing on unarmed crowds of men and women became common. (iii) Nearly 90,000 INDIANS includingand other prominent leaders of Indian NATIONAL Congress were imprisoned and the Congress was declared illegal. (iv) Congress was declared illegal and various restrictions were imposed on the press. (v) The soldiers of the GARHWAL Rifles in Peshawar refused to fire on the unarmed PATHANS. Aerial BOMBARDMENT was used to crush the followers of Abdul Ghaffar Khan. |
