In the novel ‘Inside the Haveli’ the novelist has tried to redefine the values of our traditions and customs which we have inherited from our forefathers. She does not believe in ‘old is gold’. Nor does she believe in ‘past is perished’. She believes in the harmonious mixture of what is good in the ancient and the modern. The emotional relationship between the master and the servant is essential for the progress of human race and the development of industry. Equally important is the understanding between the outgoing and incoming generations. Empowerment of woman and her restoration to her honourable position is another message of the novel. Thus the novel is indeed a modern classic.

उपन्यास ‘इनसाईड द हवेली’ में उपन्यास लेखिका ने हमारी परम्पराओं और रीति-रिवाजों को पुनः परिभाषित करने का प्रयास किया है, जो हमने अपने पूर्वजों से प्राप्त किये हैं। वह इस कथन में विश्वास नहीं करती कि जो प्राचीन है वह सोना है और न ही उसका उसमें विश्वास है कि भूतकाल तो मर चुका है। वह उसमें विश्वास करती है कि जो कुछ प्राचीन और आधुनिक काल में अच्छा है उसका मिश्रण किया जाय। मानवजाति की उन्नति और उद्योग के विकास के लिये स्वामी और सेवक के बीच भावुक सम्बन्धों की आवश्यकता है। जाने वाली पीढ़ी और आने वाली पीढ़ी के बीच भी एक-दूसरे को समझना बड़ा आवश्यक है। स्त्रियों का सशक्तिकरण और उनके सम्मानित स्थान पर उसे पहुँचाना, यह भी उपन्यास का एक सन्देश है। अतः उपन्यास वास्तव में आधुनिक श्रेष्ठ पुस्तक है।
