| Answer» No,all metals does not expand at same amount when heated through the same temperature.When TWO DIFFERENT strips are joined one strip bends longer which GETS heated up faster.These strips are often used in thermostats in houses to CONTROL house temperature. when the strip is cold it bends one WAY and as it gets hot it bends the other way.when a metal is heated the kinetic energy of that material increases and it's atoms and molecules move about more.In appliances this arrangement is used.This is a Bimetallic strip. | |
