In JUNE 2010, seven ex-employees, including the former UCIL chairman, were convicted in Bhopal of causing death by NEGLIGENCE and SENTENCED to two years imprison maintained a fine of about $2,000 each, the MAXIMUM punishment allowed by Indian law . An eighth former employee was also convicted, but died before the judgment was passed. 1) Children develop abnormalities. 2) Several people who were not associated to the factory in any way were greatly affected due to the poisonous gas leaked from that plant. 3) After long league processes, the compensation offered was far less which woulds be given to people after such a tragedy accused in developed country.
