Does a hydraulic press work, if the liquid used in it is replaced by a gas?

Answer»

Solution :The thrust applied will no doubt be multiplied if the liquid USED in a hydraulic press is replaced by a gas. But, due to the GREATER COMPRESSIBILITY of a gas, the thrust developed on the larger piston will bot be LARGE enough. For this reason, the press cannot be used for EFFICIENT pressing.
