Answer» Uttariya- upper garment, usually cotton or silk, ornamented borders and fringes. Courtiers- one or both shoulders, diagonally across the chest. Loosely draped across the back with free ends hanging down the lower arm or wrapped around the wrist. Commoners- wrapped the coarse cotton uttariya around the head for protection against the sun or wrapped it around the waist, leaving the arms bare. |
