The haveli “Jeevan Niwas’ is home to men and women who love and honour age old traditions and customs. They pride themselves in following and maintaining them. Lack of education has never allowed them to keep out of these blind faiths. Geeta, a Bombay bred young girl, comes to the haveli as Ajay Singh’s bride. Her good upbringing, her education, love and co-operation of her in-laws encourage her to start classes for the servants’ children and the maids. She teaches them to read and write. She tells them inspiring stories. This modest beginning helps many maids to get a good job. It symbolises the beginning of a social change.

हवेली ‘जीवन निवास’ ऐसे पुरुषों और स्त्रियों का निवास स्थान है जो प्राचीन परम्पराओं और रीति-रिवाजों कासम्मान करते हैं और उन्हें प्यार करते हैं। वे उनका अनुसरण करने और उन्हें बनाये रखने में गौरव महसूस करते हैं। शिक्षा के अभाव ने उन्हें कभी भी इन अंधविश्वासों के बाहर नहीं झांकने दिया। गीता, बॉम्बे की पली-बड़ी युवती अजय सिंह की दुलहन के रूप में हवेली में प्रवेश करती है। उसका उत्तम लालन-पालन, उसकी शिक्षा, उसके ससुरालियों का सहयोग और प्यार उसे नौकरों के बच्चों और सेविकाओं के लिये पढ़ाना शुरू करने का प्रोत्साहन देते हैं। वह उन्हें पढ़ना लिखना सिखती है। वह उन्हें अच्छी प्रेरणादायक कहानियां सुनाती है। यह छोटी सी शुरूआत कई सेविकाओं को अच्छा काम दिलाने में सहायता करती है। यह एक सामाजिक परिवर्तन का प्रतीक है।
