Answer» Proenzymes The enzymes are protein in nature and they are generally produced in an inactive form in order to prevent their action body tissues. The best example is the digestive enzymes which are secreted in form of zymogens (Pepsinogen, Trypsinogen etc.,) which remain inactive in the cells in which they are produced. They are activated by proteolytic cleavage. The inactive form of the enzymes called the zymogens or proenzymes or enzyme precursors. |
