Answer» Suresh Tendulkar and C. Rangrajan considered consumption expenditure as basis of poverty. They created a group of eatables and non eatables called as poverty line basket to measure poverty line and estimated the required consumption expenditure as per their market price. They found that in year 2011-12, a person who spends less than ? 1000/month in urban area and ? 816/person/month in rural area is called as poor. As per that 27 crore people are below poverty line. |
