Generals said that the battle of Jhelum went down in the history of the world. Alexander admitted that it was the greatest battle he had ever fought. Alexander thought Puru’s faulty battle plans, using old methods of warfare and depending too much on elephants were the causes for Puru’s defeat.

Meanwhile Puru was brought before Alexander. Alexander asked him why he had rejected his offer to be his vassal while all the other kings gladly agreed to do so. Then Puru told that none of them was Puru. Alexander asked Puru how he’ should treat him. Puru aksed him to treat him as a king should treat another king.
