This slogan was raised by the people of America as a part of a powerful agitation. Various circumstances that led to the agitation are as follows : 16^thcentury onwards the Europeans began to migrate to North America mainly to exploit the natural resources. By the 18^th – century England had established 13 colonies in the Eastern coast of North America. The British treated these colonies as centers for collecting raw materials for their industry and as market for selling their products.
