DIELECTRIC constant can be defined as :-

  • The ratio of the permittivity of a substance to the ratio of the permittivity of the free space.

It EXPRESSES the extent to which a material can hold electric flux in it.

Dielectric constant formula:-

K = E/E° where k = dielectric constant

E= permittivity of substance

And, E° = permittivity of free space.

⭐ Since, it is the ratio of TWO QUANTITIES so dielectric constant is a DIMENSION less quantity.
