Answer» Solution :Petrol and grease both are hydrocarbon. Both non-polar. Petrol posses less carbon so it is volatile at low temperature. (ii) Grease is a mixture of higher alkanes, so it is STICKY and non-polar in nature. Both are hydrophobic in nature, both possess similar non-polar property, so based on like dissolve like it gives solubility. So stains of grease becomes SOLUBLE in petrol, REMOVE STAIN in from cloth and so it becomes clean. |
