Activation energy (Ea) can be calculated graphically (from the collected data) as follows:

log10 k = - \((\frac{E_a}{2.303R})\) x \(\frac{1}{T}\) + log10 A      ...............(Arrhenius equation)

Thus, when the graph of log10k is plotted against \(\frac{1}{T}\) , a straight line with negative slope is obtained.

From the slope of the graph, activation energy can be calculated

Slope = \((\frac{E_a}{2.303R})\)

∴ Eo = slope x 2.303 x R
