Answer» The Varna system in Dharma-shastras divides society into four varnas (Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishya and Shudras). Those who fall out of this system because of their grievous sins are OSTRACISED as outcastes (UNTOUCHABLES) and CONSIDERED outside the varna system.
