1.

Explain rate of reaction with its mathematical forms.

Answer»

Solution :Rate (Velocity) of reaction :
It is the ratio of change in concentration to UNIT interval of time.
Mathematically, let US consider a general reaction, A(reactant) `to` B(product).
Now, rate (velocity) of reaction = `+-(d[A])/(dt)=(+d[B])/(dt)=(+dc)/(dt)`
where, dc = change in concentration, dt = change in time.
-Ve SIGN = forward reaction where concentration of the reactant decreases.
+ve sign = BACKWARD reaction where concentration of the reactant increases.
[A] = concentration of reaction A
[B] = concentration of product B.
