Explain the difference between 'thinning the crop' and 'weeding'.

Weeding is pulling out PLANTS that arrived on their own and are unwanted.

Thinning is a gardening term. When we plant carrots for example, we sow more seeds than we need in case we get low germination rates. If too many carrots sprout they will crowd each-other out. So, we ‘thin’ or pull some out so that others will have PLENTY of room to grow.

The below picture is me thinning some kale that was started in a GREENHOUSE, I plant 2 or 3 seeds in each cell. If more than 1 seed sprouts, I choose my favorite ONE and thin the rest.
