It was an important rallying point for people who wished to discuss government policies and plan their own forms or action.In the summer of 1792, the Jacobins planned an insurrection or a large number or Parisians who were, angered by the short supplies and high prices or food.\xa0On the morning of 10th August, an angry crowd\xa0stormed the Palace of the Tuileries. They massacred the\xa0king’s guards and held the king himself as a hostage for\xa0several hours.\xa0Later, the National Assembly voted to imprison the\xa0royal family. Then elections were held. From now on,\xa0all men of 21 years and above, regardless of wealth, got\xa0the right to vote. The newly elected assembly was called\xa0the Convention. It abolished the monarchy on 21st\xa0September 1792 and declared France a Republic.\xa0In this way, the insurrection by Parisians revolutionised France. | |
