Answer» (i) This is due to d-d transition. When visible (white) light falls on a compound, it absorbs certain radiations of white light and transmit the remaining ones. The transmitted light has the complementary colour to that of the absorbed light. (ii) Because the atoms or simple ions of zinc never have partially filled d orbitals.
