According to J.R. Sherman, “The fundamental goal of Physical Education is to affect the experiences of the individual to the extent, that each individual can help to adjust successfully in changing conditions, which will result in an increase in his desires and develop the ability to fulfill his wants”,

According to J.F. Williams, “Physical Education should aim to provide skilled leadership, adequate facilities and ample time for the individual and the groups to participate in activities that are physically wholesome, mentally stimulating and socially sound”. 

Physical education helps in the:

1. All round development of the child. 

2. Physical fitness and wellness 

3. Cultivation of Leadership qualities. 

4. Healthy physical growth and development
