Explain the mechanism of (1) root pressure (2)translocation class 10 plz ans me |
|
Answer» 1.ROOT pressure is caused by active distribution of mineral nutrient ions into the root xylem. Without transpiration to CARRY the ions up the stem, they accumulate in the root xylem and lower the water potential. Water then diffuses from the soil into the root xylem due to osmosis.2.Translocation is the movement of materials in PLANTS from the leaves to other parts of the plant. The entrance of the water CAUSES pressure to build and forces the water and dissolved materials to move through the phloem from the leaves into the rest of the plant, where it can be stored or turned into ENERGY. |
