BLEACHING powder can be prepared by NaCl.

preparation of Bleaching powder by NaCl ➤

  • The chlorine gas produced during the chlor-alkali process is used for manufacturing Bleaching powder by the action of chlorine gas on dry SLAKED lime.

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 ⸻➤CaOCl2 + H2O.

  • Ca(OH)2 - Dry slaked lime.

  • Cl2 - Chlorine.

  • CaOCl2- CALCIUM of chloride ( Bleaching powder)

  • H2O - water.

⸻➤ Uses of CaOCl2 :-

  1. For Bleaching cotton , linen , wood pupl and washed CLOTHES in LAUNDRY.
  2. As an oxidising agent in chemical industry.
  3. For disinfecting water ( to make it free from germs.)
