Answer» Insulin and glucagonare hormones secreted by islet cells within the pancreas. They are both secreted in response to blood sugar levels, but in opposite fashion!Insulinis normally secreted by the beta cells (a type of islet cell) of the pancreas. If blood glucose is high, then noglucagonis secreted. Insulinhelps the body's cells absorb glucose, lowering blood sugar and providing the cells with the glucose they need for energy.Glucagonforces the liver to release stored glucose, which causes the blood sugar to rise.Insulin and glucagonare both released by islet cellsin thepancreas |
