The term nucleon refers to the sum of protons (p) and neutrons (n) present in atom, e.g. Number of nucleons present in \(^{40}_{20}Ca,\) are 40 (i.e., 20 protons and 20 neutrons). Number of nucleons present in \(^{23}_{11}Na\) are 23 (i.e., 11 protons and 12 neutrons).
