No importance was given to Tamil language. This created a feeling ALIENATION among the Srilankan Tamils. ☆ The GOVERNMENTS followed preferential policies that favoured the Sinhala applicants for university positions and government jobs. ☆ The government of Srilanka STATED that they shall foster and protect Buddhism as their state religion disregarding other religions.
