Explain water gas in detail |
|
Answer» Water gas is a fuel gas consisting mainly of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, made by passing steam over incandescent coke. H2O+C→CO+H2 The mixture of CO and H2 thus produced is known as water gas or synthesis gas. C(s) + H2O(g) ---> CO(g) + H2(g) Water gas is an important industrial fuel. Carbon monoxide in water gas can undergo further combustion forming carbon dioxide with the liberation of heat. |
