Explain why cannot we have isomers of first three members of alkane family.

Answer» First three members of alkane family are methane `(CH_(4))`, ethene `(CH_(3)-CH_(3))` and propane `(CH_(3)-CH_(2)-CH_(3))`. Since there is no scope for branching in alkanes having upto three carbon atoms, therefore no isomerism is possible.
