Explain why rails have gaps at specific distances |
|
Answer» Rail track runs parallel with SMALL and it is laid in such a way that there is small gap left in between them. These small gaps are very IMPORTANT SINCE they provide required room for expansion of the rail TRACKS during summer and other climatic conditions. Expansion also occurs due to the heat created from the constant friction between the WHEELS and the rail tracks. |
