Extinct conical volcanoes often form crater lakes.

Answer»

Answer:

Yes EXTINCT conical volcanoes form crater lakes .

The cone shape of the volcanoes is actually formed by the cooling of the MOLTEN lava which flow out during an eruption .

Sometimes due to heavy pressure the volcano may undergo a heavy explosion resulting in the blowing up of the cone. Thus the volcano calms down i.e.; the volcano becomes extinct due to the loss of pressure and heat in the earth. The AREA where the cone PERSISTED now LOOKS like a depression .During the rains ,water gets filled in this depression resulting in the formation of crater lakes.
