Find the lowest four digit number when divided by 6, 7 and 8 leaves the remainder 5 in each case?1. 10082. 10133. 10184. 1021

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 2 : 1013

Numbers are 6, 7 and 8.

Remainder = 5

Concept Used:

When we have to find the least number then we have to calculate the LCM (least common multiple)

Calculation:

We know that

If the number is divisible by the given numbers then it should be the multiple of LCM of given numbers.

∴ LCM of 6, 7 and 8 = 168

Now, lowest four digit number is 1000 and when we divide 1000 with 168 we get 160 as remainder but if we subtract the remainder we will get three digit number but we need a four digit number so the next number after 840 which is divisible by 6, 7 and 8 = 840 + 168 = 1008

So, 1008 is the number which is divisible by 6, 7 and 8 but it should leave the remainder 5 so we need to add 5 in the number to get the required number.

∴ Required number = 1008 + 5 = 1013
