Mrs Malik as a person: She is a hard working lady. During the construction of her new house, she would be seen standing at the site with her umbrella throughout the day. At times she would give a hand to the masons and others. She is a sociable lady. During construction of her new house, she had developed friendly relations in the colony. She is a practical lady and a responsible mother. She planned to settle down permanently in Delhi because it was not desirable to shift the children from school to school. Mrs Malik as a mother-in-law: She is not satisfied with the ways of her daughter-in-law. She feels hurt by the indifferent attitude of her daughter-in-law. Mrs Malik wishes her daughter-in-law to work hard as she herself did. 

श्रीमती मलिक एक व्यक्ति के रूप में : वह एक परिश्रमी महिला हैं। अपने नये मकान के निर्माण के दौरान उन्हें निर्माण स्थल पर सारा दिन हाथ में छाता लिये खड़े हुए देखा जा सकता था। कभी-कभी वह राजमिस्त्रियों व अन्य कारीगरों को उनके कार्य में मदद भी दिया करती थी। वह एक मिलनसार महिला हैं। अपने मकान के निर्माण के दौरान उन्होंने कॉलोनी में लोगों से मित्रतापूर्ण सम्बन्ध बना लिये थे। वह व्यावहारिक सोच वाली महिला और एक जिम्मेदार माँ हैं। उन्होंने दिल्ली में ही स्थायी रूप से निवास करने की योजना बनाई थी क्योंकि बार-बार स्कूल बदलनां ठीक नहीं था। श्रीमती मलिक एक सास के रूप में : वह अपनी पुत्रवधू के तौर-तरीकों से संतुष्ट नहीं हैं । वह उसके उपेक्षापूर्ण व्यवहार से आहत महसूस करती हैं। श्रीमती मलिक चाहती हैं कि उनकी पुत्रवधू उन्हीं की तरह कठिन परिश्रम करे।
