A magnet is a substance which use to attract some of the metals LIKE iron ,nickel ,cobalt etc. Magnet are used very commonly in our dailyhood. The property of attraction in a magnet is due to magnetic field .

Characteristics of magnet :-

• The main and IMPORTANT characteristic of magnet is to attract the metals like nickel ,cobalt iron etc .
• When a magnet is independently suspended buy a thread we will OBSERVE that it always lies on North - South direction .
• Like poles of magnet repel each other . If we take pole south of one magnet and pole south of another magnet and TRY that they both get attracted we will find they start repeling each other.
• Unlike poles attract each other . if we will take two magnets of opposite side then they both will get attracted by each other .
