Answer» . These mountain ranges stretch in a west_east direction from the lndus to the Brahmaputra. The outer most range of the himalayas is known as the Shiwaliks. Their altitude varies from 900 to 1100 metres.The souther range of the Himadri forms the most rugged mountain system and is known as lesser Himalayas or Himachal.The northern most range is known as the Great or Inner Himalayas or the Himadri.
