Answer» Ans.\xa0When the hydrogen bond is present between two atoms of the same molecule, then it is known as intramolecular hydrogen bond.For example, intramolecular hydrogen bonding occurs in ethylene glycol (C2H4(OH)2) between its two hydroxyl groups due to the molecular geometry. When the hydrogen bond is present between two atoms of the same molecule, then it is called as intramolecular hydrogen bond.Eg. In the above image, the dotted line represents the intramolecular bonding between hydrogen and oxygen of the same molecule. |
