Awadh or Oudh is the ONE example of annexation through a subsidiary alliance.

EXPLANATION:

The subsidiary alliance is implemented by the great administrator Wellesley. He followed the expansionary policy so he implemented the subsidiary policies to princely states.

Many states joined the subsidiary alliance but Oudh is forcibly joined by British INDIA rulers. Subsidiary alliance drained the financial powers of the state and affect the SOVEREIGNTY of states.

Oudh is AFFECTED financially because of high paid rent to maintain the huge British forces under a subsidiary alliance. After some decades, Oudh can’t run the state administration without financial SOURCES, later Dalhousie annexed Oudh because of maladministration.
