Give reasons for the following : (i) LiCl is more covalent that KCl . (ii) LiI has lower melting point than LiF. |
|
Answer» SOLUTION :(i) Due to SMALLER SIZE , `Li^(+)` is more polarising than `Na^(+)` and hence LiCl is more covalent than NACL . (ii) Due toi bigger size , `I^(-)` is more polarizable than `F^(-)` and hence LII is more covalent than LiF . |
