Atoms can not be seen even through a powerful microscope whereas molecules can be seen by a powerful microscope. 3. One atom contains the particles of only one element for eg(H) Hydrogen atom, (He) Helium atom while molecules can contain not only particles of only one element but also of more than one element for eg H2O (water) molecule, (O2) Oxygen molecule Atoms are the smallest particle of an element that can take part in a chemical reaction.
