Give the function of nozzle in a turbine

The nozzles in impulse turbines are in effect the stators of the turbine. They direct the motive fluid angle and increase the velocity onto the buckets. Single or multiple nozzles may be used with either water or steam. The nozzle expands the steam, increasing its velocity and redirecting the flow into the turbine blades.
