Answer» Calcium carbonate in the form of marble is used as building material. It is used in the manufacture of quicklime (CaO) which is the major ingredient of cement. A mixture of CaCO₃ and MgCO₃ is used as flux in the extraction of metals from their ores. It is required for the manufacture of high-quality paper. It is an important ingredient in toothpaste, chewing gum, dietary supplements of calcium and filler in cosmetics.
