Answer» Lai Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2, 1904 at Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. His parents were Sharada Prasad and Ramdulari Devi. Lai Bahadur joined the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidya Peeth in 1925. He later married Lalitha. He participated in the Indian independence movement in the 1920s and became the leader of the Indian National Congress party. After independence, he became a minister in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet and later the railway minister in the Central cabinet. In 1964 he became the second Prime Minister of independent India. He died on January 11, 1966 at Tashkent in Uzbekistan. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously. |
