Samudragupta is known as the Napoleon of India.

His court poet Harisen has described about his victories and military expenditure in his record in Allahabad prashasti.

These records are inscribed on the same pillar on which Ashoka's edicts are inscribed.

The rulers and countries which were won by Samudragupta can be DIVIDED into 5 parts -

  1. The states of Ganga Yamuna doab
  2. States of eastern Himalayas .
  3. The bordering states of eastern VINDHYA range .
  4. Eastern Deccan and states of South India
  5. The Shaka and KUSHANA States

As per Allahabad prashasti he was never defeated in any battle he possessed a very powerful navy through which is strengthened his FOREIGN relations .

Samudragupta perform the ashvamedha yagya also.

He was worshipper of VISHNU .
