Gynoecium of a flower may be apocarpous or syncarpous. Explain with the help of an example each. |

Answer» Carpels are free (apocarpous) , e.g. : Michelia. Carpels are fused (syncarpous), e,g.: Papaver. Detailed Answer : Gynoecium represents the female reproductive part of the flower. If a gynoecium has multiple, distinct (free, unfused) carpels, it is apocarpous. The example includes strawberry, buttercup etc. If a gynoecium has multiple carpels fused into a single structure, it is syncarpous. The example includes Tulip and most flowers. |
